In 2011 and 2012 we buried a couple barrels of Pinot Gris deep in our cellar, hiding them away from the world so they could mature in solitude. Brooding alone in the dark for years, these modest barrels developed staggering resilience and strength of character. Upon coming of age, they finally emerged out of the wood, glorious and glistening. This is a wine you could split with an axe. Muscular, masculine and ruggedly oaked, this handsome specimen is not to be underestimated. Weather-beaten, hunky and square jawed though it may first appear, it still retains a deep rooted tender streak, creamy smoothness and underlying sensitivity. This wine is all your dreams come true… (maybe).
This Single Release wine was handcrafted by the crew at Rimu Grove Winery. Limited to a ridiculously low number of bottles, this wine reflects the spirit of innovation, creativity and general eccentricity of the folks who make our wines.
